Inspection done

I met with the inspector Friday. It took 3 hours to do the inspection. He said for the age of the house, it is in better shape than any other house he has looked at that's that old, the people who lived there before took good care of it. I'm still waiting on test results from the house and still need to get a turmite inspection. Also I'm still trying to get everything in that the bank needs. I'm so excited!

I spent the whole day at an auction. They had a ton of stuff so it took forever to go through everything, I got sunburned standing outside all day watching them auction everything off. I only ended up leaving with one thing. This little stepping stool. It will come in very handy though!

Waiting

I am in the process of filling out paper work and getting my accountant and bank to send all info to me here in NC since I don't have access to my files in Atlanta. I'm hoping to have all the info in tomorrow. Friday is the home inspection, so I'm meeting the inspector there at 1:00. Hope all goes well!

I was surfing around on the web and found these pretty rooms. I want to paint my bedroom a sage green and these caught my eye.

Painting hardwood floors white seems quite trendy, but I just couldn't! I do love how much character the room has though. I'm wanting to put hardwood throughout the house with sage walls in bedroom.

The one above isn't sage, but it is so rustic and pretty, I love it! I have all white bedding, something abt all white linens just feels so clean and fresh.

Oh I hope everything works out so I can move in!

Signed!

I signed the papers today. Now I have to wait for them to have an inspection and run a bunch of tests on the house. I went back and took more pictures of the house, here are a few more photos of it. I hope everything runs smooth and I can move in! I will continue to write updates on it.

1963 Ranch house
2 bdrm, 1 bath
1200 sq ft
1 acre of land

Above is a side view of the house, that is the carport, that door goes into the kitchen, the little wooden deck is right in back of the carport.

Above is the master bedroom. It has two nice big closets in it and 2 windows to let in lots of light.

This is a different view of the kitchen, it's really quite big, that is where I'll put the dining table. The door on the right is the one that goes out to the carport. The far room you see in the back left is the living room.

The above is the office and laundry room.

This is the bathroom, I don't really like the way it looks decor wise, but I do like how big it is and the window. There's a bathtub and a separate standing shower.

I hope this will be my home, please pray everything works out!

I already have it all decorated in my mind :p

House Hunting Day 2

I am not sure about which house I want yet. So much thinking to do. House #1 just got reduced 20k since I looked at it Sunday. It does have a nice yard, here are a couple pics of how much yard it has. I am looking for something level to fence in so my dog will have a lot of space to run around and play. I may go look at this one a 3rd time now. Any advice for a first time house buyer is welcomed! It seems a little confusing, as each house has something you don't like, yet also things you really do like, too.

It has two little sheds in back.

More pics coming soon!

House Hunting Day 1 - House #3

I woke up this morning thinking about another house I had looked at yesterday. House #3. This one isn't right in the middle of Mt. Airy like the other two are, it is more out a little farther, but closer to my parents home. This one has a finished basement, so it seems a lot bigger. The basement isn't allowed to be considered part of the living space because the ceilings aren't very high, but it is still nice.

House #3
3 bedroom, 2 bath
2000 sq ft
(The basement is included in this sq ft,
the main floor is probably around 1300 sq ft)

This is the front of the house, I like the big tree in front.

Try to use your imagination on the photo above. That is the living room. She has it turned into a dining room though. I would turn it back into the living room because I love the huge window it has. She has one of the bedrooms converted into the living room.

Love this kitchen, I like the island. This kitchen would look nice with butcher block counter tops.

All the bedrooms already have real hardwood floors.

Bathroom on the main level.

It has a screen in porch and where that door is, takes you down to the back yard. There aren't a lot of steps going down, so I'm okay with it. Maybe abt 6 steps. It has a really big back yard.

The basement...

You can see how low the ceilings are, but she has is fixed up nicely. The fireplace is gas.

The bathroom in the basement. It's very big. The door goes out to the outside and to the right there is a linen closet.

So what do you think of house #3?
Yay or Nay?
1, 2 or 3?

House Hunting Day 1 - Cast your vote.

Today was the first day for my mom and I to go inside the homes with the realtor to see what they look like. We looked at 20, that is TWENTY homes today! Oh my goodness, I am so tired LOL
The very first two I looked at I liked the best. The one below is the first house we looked at. Both are ranch homes.

House #1
2 bdrm, 1 bath
1200 sq ft

Front of the house, it has a little side door going out into the carport and there is a little patio. It has a nice sized back yard.

The living room, I would replace the carpet with hardwood floors among other things.

Kitchen, it is sort of cute. There is a laundry room/office right behind it. Real tile floors.

House #2
3 bdrm, 2 bath
1350 sq ft

This one is up on a little hill. You wouldn't have to worry about flooding at least! Carport is to the left and it has a nice back yard and doors in the back that go out to the yard with a patio.

Living room. It already has the hardwood floors. Nice big window. I like the little entry way and there is a coat closet right as you walk in.

I know, I know, the counters are red. But pretend you don't see them, because that can easily be changed. There is a laundry room off to the side.

Kitchen is pretty big, there is the dining area next to it with the glass doors that lead to the back patio. I wished I had taken more pics of these houses, but they were the first two we looked at, so I didn't know they were going to end up being the ones I liked best.
I have an appt to go back and look at them again on Tuesday.

So which one do you like better?
House #1 or #2?

North Carolina Harvest

There's lotsa fresh fruits and veggies around the farm! Here is my dad shelling peas.

More peas...

lotsa maters!

Some hot pepper plants, I love all the colors on these.

We had some fresh yummy watermelon from the garden today, too.
Perfect for such a hot summer day.

Little Foot had to cool off with some watermelon, too.
He's funny, he loves to eat fruit.

Sunflowers twice my height!

We had a lovely day. My mom and I went house hunting in Mt. Airy and tomorrow we go again, I will keep everyone posted on how it's going.

Retro Kitchens

Here is my mom's retro kitchen, it is so adorable! I love love those kitchen chairs, they look so comfy, they don't make comfy chairs like that anymore...

...and my moms little eating area, love the booth!

Here is one I just found off the internet, I love the style of this refrigerator and those little corner shelves are too cute! I would love little shelves like that. Have you seen the kitchen on Rachel Ray's cooking show? She has the retro vibe going on in it, too.

See, red counters can look cute.

Of course I love this kitchen above, it has a rustic retro vibe all in one. How perfect is that? I have no idea what my style is, I like a little of different things, sort of rustic retro organic modern. Is that a style? hehe

What are your favorite styles for homes?

Kettle in my Kitchen

The whistling tea kettle came today. I ordered it from Zappos so they gave me free overnight shipping, I love Zappos! So here it is in my kitchen, it don't look exactly like my dream cause the kettle isn't in my new house yet, but here it is anyway. The apple green kettle from my dream.

Whistling Tea Kettle

I had a dream last night that I bought an apple green tea kettle for the new house I am getting in NC. It was so pretty in my dream and I could see it sitting on my white stove in my new house. Then I woke up and I laid there thinking, hmmm ... an apple green tea kettle? What a neat idea! So I went online today and did a search for apple green tea kettles and I found this pretty kettle. So I got it!

I had a red tea kettle, but I accidently burned it to death because I turned on the wrong burner one day. I will try to be more careful with this one :)

Whatcha think of apple green?
