My House

I got to go into my house for the first time today since the closing became official.  Yay!
I mopped all the floors today and tried to get some of that musty smell out of it.  We are unloading the U-haul either tonight or tomorrow night.  I won't be staying there until I get hardwood floors put in though.  I went and looked at some more today and I am going to one more place tomorrow to make my final decision. Then I will probably have to wait a week or so for the wood to come in, then let it sit in the house for a few days, then have someone to install it. So it will still be a while before I get to live in my new home. I'm staying at my parents for now.

I took some pics of it today with the pretty fall leaves. Wish there were more leaves on the trees, but a lot have fallen off already.

And the photo below is the road going to my house, so pretty!!!!

I closed on my house!

Well, it finally happened! I am a home owner.  It took 2 wks longer than it was suppose to and I am told there is still some paper work to turn in before I can turn on the electric and such.  Also something about the seller needing to pay some taxes on it she owes.

I can sort of have a sigh of relief that the hard part is over now.  Lessons learned?

  • Think twice when looking at short sales, they can be a lot of trouble compared to a regular sale.
  • Multi-task instead of doing one thing at a time in consecutive order.
  • Don't believe everything everyone tells you, just because they tell you everything will run smooth and it will go fast doesn't mean it will. (Don't get your hopes up until those keys are in your hand.)
  • If there are things wrong with the house, don't expect the seller to fix it even if they promise they will.
I'm sure I will think of more things later.

Here is my new home!  I'm in the process of finding hardwood floors to replace the carpet and I'm going to paint every room in the house.  If you have any ideas you would like to throw my way to make this house look more homey and cozy, just let me know!

My apartment in Atlanta

This photo was taken last fall/winter,
which is why all the leaves are off the trees.
My apt is on the first floor there and it overlooks the pool.

The picture above is what you see when you first walk in the door.
I love the huge windows the apt has.

My little tiny kitchen, can't wait to use the kitchen
in my new house that is lighter and bigger.
The apt kitchen here feels like a cave.

I think this furniture and decor will look so nice in the
new house with the white wood paneling and fireplace.

The apt is open concept, which I don't care for.  The dining area, living room, kitchen and my office all in one open space.  My new -older- home will have a separate room for each one, which will be so nice and cozy.

My bedroom. I will finally get to paint the walls the colors I want.
I'm still going with the sage green for the bedroom.

Ok I will confess, I do like the bathroom in the apt better than the one in my new house.
I can always redo the bathroom to my liking down the road though.
So it wasn't a deal breaker or anything.

Now to start packing all this stuff up!!
