Sofa Table Finished

If you remember, I was trying to figure out what to do with the boards on top of the table, if I should stain them or leave them natural.  Well, I got to thinking and didn't want another piece of furniture with a white bottom and stained top, so I white washed it.  Did you see that coming? Neither did I. It was just a spur of the moment idea and I went with it. I think it turned out adorable. Very beachy looking.

I haven't had a chance to decorate the top yet, I just wanted to take a picture now so I could show how it turned out.  I'm so happy with the results.  I really didn't even picture it looking this way when I first started, but I'm glad it worked out.

Taylor and Martha and some had asked where I was putting the table.  For now, I have it next to my fireplace, but eventually I want to get built in bookcases put here.  Then I may move it to my guest room.  At least with the white washed top, it will work in any room in the house now.

Should I keep it here or go ahead and move it to the guest room?  I was really wanting to get a bench for that room so people could put their suitcases and such on it, not sure if another table is really necessary in there.  I also have room for it in my laundry room/office.  If I keep it here in the living room, what would you suggest on the wall above it?  I was thinking the walnut framed pic of the ocean, but that's sort of predictable and I already have another wall in there full of photography.

I was thinking of putting an antique basket like this over the table on the wall, I saw one  like it at an antique store down the street from me and I can't stop thinking about it.

Here is the pic again of what it looked like before.

I think it works with my decor now and flows with the house.
Before it sort of seemed out of place.
I'll post more pics of it once I get it all decorated and am certain where I'll keep it at.  I had bought it for behind the couch originally, since I don't need it there, I have just kept moving it from place to place when I needed a table for something.  I also got the top of my big dresser finished, all that's left is to finish painting the bottom.  I'm also hoping to get pics of that posted this week sometime  :)

Wow, that looks fantastic! I'm glad you went with the white-washed - it looks so chic and beachy now! And that KNOB totally ROCKS. Love. It. <3

And (if that wasn't enough), you TOTALLY just rocked my world with that inspiration pic! Seriously. I'm in LOVE with the antique basket. Wow. And perfect timing, too. I won't say anything else now...

Nice job on the console table, and thank you x 100 for the inspiration! ;)

Hi - Wondering where you found your sofa table and also - what you did to refinish it - what the process was. I love it and would love to be a copycat.

The sofa table is originally from Kanes. I sanded the bottom, primed it with Olympic primer and painted it Benjamin Moore Bone White.

For the top I just removed the original top and took some wood from a farm, cut it to size and white washed it. (Mixed half water and half white paint in a mason jar) Used a sponge brush and wiped with a cloth any excess. I used 2 coats.

Hope that helps some :)
