Sofa Table Progress

I worked on my sofa table a little last night.  My friend had primed it for me and I just put the first coat of paint on it.  Benjamin Moore Bone White is the color, it's a very creamy off white.

These boards on top of it are from my dads farm, they are a little aged so they have some discoloration.  I was going to stain them dark, but am wondering if maybe I should keep them like they are?  Maybe I could stain them still, but not such a dark color like the dark walnut I usually use. Maybe a light stain?

I still have to put the drawer back in with it's pretty little Anthropologie knob.

Here was how the table looked before I got  my hands on it (photo below).  The top of the table was too perfect, so I ripped it off and am giving it a more rustic look.

What do you think?  Stain the boards or keep them as is?

Where is the Sofa Table going? I assume somewhere in your living room, but not certain exactly where. Forgive me if you have already said.

I think your mind's in the right place with wondering if the top should be different from all the other dark stained tops in your house. I really like the gray parts of the wood and wonder if there is someway you could bring that color out. Maybe just with oil? Although, I'm not sure if the gloss that would come with the oil would be a good look.

In any case, I like the drift wood vibe coming from the natural look of the wood.
