BEFORE
AFTER
I just spray painted the frame dark brown, then used crackle on that, then painted a matte white paint on top and let the crackle do it's thing.
For the bulletin board part, I bought a piece of wood at Lowes for the backing and used spray adhesive to stick 2 sheets of cork on top, it could have used a 3rd sheet, but I'm thinking of putting a piece of burlap over it still. Attach the board to the frame and that's it.
Very easy compared to the dresser makeover :)
I like how it turned out, but like I said, I'm still debating putting some burlap over the cork. I love making chalk boards and bulletin boards instead of spending hundreds of dollars for what they are selling them for in stores these days.
This one from Pottery Barn sells for $179.00.
This plain one for $149.00.
$249.00 for this big one at Ballards.
I like the feeling of saving all that money and looking at something I made myself instead :)
Do you have any other ideas of things that are easy to make, but they are selling for outrageous prices in the stores?

I love your bulletin board!! I am getting ready to make one of my own, kind of a combination chalk board and bulletin board, thanks for the tips!!
Everything on the Knock-Off Wood site. Any time I go there I want to build all the stuff listed! So far I've only attempted a simple bench, but it turned out nicely and our next family project is going to be a queen sized bedframe similar to the Stratton variety of Pottery Barn.
Your bulletin board is gorgeous - now I'll keep it in mind when trawling through yard sales this summer!
Whoa........your bulletin board looks fantastic. I have to make one for my computer nook now.
I made a huge leaning mirror for under $75 that would retail for over $500. You can see it on my family room post:

I LOVE it! I just met you and your blog and I am so excited to read and see the progress you have made on your home and your DIY projects. You are super fabulous!
Where did you buy the cork? I have a project like that I need to finish but haven't bought the cork.
I got the cork at Lowe's. It was on sale for around $3.00 a role. I used 2 rolls for it.
I saw a white platter from PB that had chalkboard paint painted on the plate part - for $100!!
That one made my jaw drop. I mean, you can find a white platter at Goodwill for a couple bucks, tape off the rim and paint it with $7 chalkboard paint! How has this not occurred to people?
Love your blog and this bulletin board! I actually covered a $4.00 thrift shop bulletin board up with fabric. Worked out great! Look forward to reading more posts soon! Kelly http://prospectdrive.blogspot.com/
