Pickin' Peppers!
I just thought I would share with you my first pickins' from the garden! I finally have peppers big enough to pick. I thought I would have more banana peppers because I planted so many, but there are still a lot of smaller ones still growing, so I may end up with more than I can handle soon enough.
I just picked banana peppers, jalapeƱo peppers and habanero peppers. I love salsa and hot and spicy foods. My dad raised me eating cayenne peppers from a young age, I think that's why I love hot and spicy things so much. I will probably pickle some of them, freeze some and use up the rest making lots of salsa and in the dishes I cook .
I know, I didn't wait for the habaneros to turn red, but I couldn't resist! I love the flavor of habanero so much. Once I get more banana peppers, I will make some salsa with them and post the recipe and pics of it. I got the recipe from a friend and it's some of the best salsa I've ever had.
If you have any good recipes with peppers or for salsa, please let me know!

Look at you with your first harvest! Sorry to say I cannot handle *hot*, so no recipes to share. Your first batch of salsa will be the very best ever because you made stuff in your own garden!!
They look great! We have picked cucumber, lettuce and beans so far. Our peppers are not ready yet. Tomato and eggplant should be ready for pickin next week. have fun!
I copied your recipe for this salsa and it was absolutely deeeelish!!
I blended it, as the recipe called for, but I think next time I will chop. The blended texture was kinda odd for me. I'll see if I like chopped better and let you know.
Thanks for sharing!
I love keeping up with you thru your blog. You always bring a smile to my face and to my heart.
Love ya!!
Bec Bec
Bec Bec, I think I should have mentioned, when you put it in the blender, just pulse it, so it keeps more of a chopped texture. It works well in a food processor, too. If you blend it too long it gets too runny. Glad you liked it though.
Love the picture of you and your first harvest. Isn't it wonderful when you get the first hint of harvest time? Can't wait to see the recipe. Homemade salsa is so good but have never tried it. Looks like I will when your recipe post for it comes about. Looking forward to it!
XO,
Valerie
Looks good, the hubs and I love spicy stuff! I really miss our old neighbour who always left awesome veggies on our back step:(
Looks nice, I only have a couple small green peppers so far.
Speaking of picking things, we have been pickling things over here!
Are you going to be pickling anything this year? I'd love to do some green tomatoes. . .
