Sitting area

I love my slipcover chair. The longer I have it, the softer it gets.  I didn't have any sort of lamp or table for it and I've been looking everywhere for the right pieces to go with it.  Some friends were having an estate sale and I got this lamp and blanket from them.  The lamp was one of those shiny brass ones.  I, of course, decided to paint over it so it would blend with the room.  I painted it an antique bronze metal finish.  I got the lamp shade at Lowe's.   They think the blanket might be hand made, but they're not sure.

I've been looking high and low for the right little table to put next to the chair, but still haven't found anything.  Right now I'm just using a tv tray, it gets the job done.

I wish there was enough room for me to get the matching ottoman for this chair.  Then I could really kick back and read or just relax.

What kind of side table do you think would look good to put next to this chair? I was thinking a round antique one.  Sometimes I just get too picky  :)

funny........I was thinking a small round one before you even mentioned it. just big enough to set a drink and book on.

I think it looks really good, Jolie! One can never have too many blankets. So cozy and inviting!

Looks great! I have a big oversized chair just like that (in green). I'm sure you will find the perfect table after searching in the nooks and crannies of the shops. Good luck! Be sure to post when you find the "one". Have fun!

Can you give me some information about painting a metal lamp like you did? I have two older brass lamps that look very 80s. ugh. Thanks!

I LOVE your living room. I have brown leather furniture as well and it works so great for me as I have 2 kids and 2 dogs. I have been thinking of changing my wall color to a lighter color and your living color I love! What is it?
I think a small round table would look great next to your chair. What about something with a glass top maybe? You could slide vintage postcards underneath the glass. You could also get a smaller foot rest to go with your chair. I had the same issue....I wanted an ottoman for my leather chair, but the matching one was too big, so I found a smaller size {15"x15") which works great. I plan to cover it with some fabric. Love your home!

It looks lovely, Jolie! Hope you find the perfect little table and an ottoman, too. :)

For the lamp, I just used 1 coat of gray primer, let dry, then 1 coat of antique bronze metallic spray paint. I let dry outside overnight, then brought in the next day and added the lamp shade.

Angie, the paint color on the living room walls is Olympic Crumb Cookie. It's a nice cream color. I also used that same color to paint my dressers I just recently refinished.

Love the chair! I want one...but with a 4 yr old and a cat with claws, it's going to be a few years. I also thing a small round table is the way to go.

to kick something else around...how about a set of nesting tables. Looks like a perfect place to read!

How about an ottoman style with the top that comes off and flips around to be a serving tray. You would get double use out of it. Your home is so cozy!!!!

Or even a small wicker table...

I really love all the texture in this room. And the natural colours are great! What's on the walls? Baskets? Where did you get them?

Cathy, Thanks so much. Those are baskets on the wall, I picked them up at West Elm. Chair is Ikea and throw pillow is Nate Berkus.
