Here is the armoire I was thinking of getting. I went to look at it on my lunch break today. Pics are taken with my cell phone.
I would paint it white and get new hardware. I'm just not sure though. I'm not sure if I like the way the feet are made on it. Sort of a victorian look to it. Hmmmm The right side of the door that opens is a little lopsided, too. The doors open straight out, so you can't push them back out of the way or anything.
There is another thrift store right next door and I noticed this one today. It's very plain, but I would paint it white and get new hardware, too, of course.
There was another armoire there already white, so I wouldn't even have to paint it, but it was really tall and I think it might overpower the room with it being so big. I should have taken a picture of it, too, but didn't think about it.
What do you think?
I want it to go here, where this dresser was, so I can put a tv in it.

I like the second one better. The first one is too *something* I can't think of the word. But the important thing is...which one do you like???
I like the second one. I'd be inclined to either paper the inside of the panels at the front or saw them out, add chicken wire and then put fabric behind like this:

I think the first one is to "frou frou".........w/o seeing the white 3rd option, I would pick #2. Good luck!
I love the second one. The scallops at the bottom are just too cute!
2nd one! You could even stencil the front panels, I think that would be lovely. And like Lavender said, paper the inside or paint it a different color. Especially if it will be open often with a TV in it.
I love the idea for the panels, to use chicken wire, cloth or wallpaper. What a neat idea. It just dawned on me that the 2nd armoire looks similar to the one in my living room from PB. Maybe that's why I'm drawn to it.
Another vote for the second one! I just love the straight lines on it.
I agree with everybody else: the second one! (I'm with you; not crazy about the feet/legs on the first.)
You could do wonders on either one of those pieces. I think I like the first one best. It has a little more character. Good luck!
Definitely the 2nd one. The first one looks too traditional, and the second one looks like it fits right in w/ the rest of your house.
I like the second one MUCH better. I agree with you about the legs - a little too dainty.
It's hard to tell sizes, but the second one looks a little more substantial as well.
Oh, and it's fairly easy to replace the hinges if you want European ones that will let the doors go to the side (they might not go all the way back, but it would be really helpful if you put a tv in there)
I like the simplicity of the second one. I think it would be less busy than the first.
I think I'm going with the consensus here...I like the second one better too.
I like the second one a lot! Very vintage looking and a great size. Good luck!
The second one for sure.
I love, love the plain one (2nd one) it would be pretty in a color too.
I like the second one the best. I agree with you - the legs are too victorian for your style on the first one. I am new to your blog & love it!
Second!
Second one. You could stencil some of your zinnias onto it.
I went back to look at the 2nd armoire one more time. I asked the price and the lady working there didn't know. She said she would contact the man who owns it to find out, but she did say he only wants to sell it as a set with another dresser. I told her I wasn't interested in the dresser, so I will check back tomorrow to find out what the man says about it.
I did notice there's no way to take those middle panels out, but I could still wallpaper or stencil it. The armoire had a funny smell in it, too. I'm sort of scared I won't be able to get that out :(
For what it's worth, I like the second one better. But then I like clean lines :) Either would look great in that spot, though.
The second one will most certainly fit better in the room. I love the look of it already- it will look awesome once its painted white!
