Day 13
I purchased an armoire for the guest room today. It has little metal criss cross bars on the doors. I am thinking of ripping those out and replacing them with glass. What do you think?
It also needs some paint. Should I paint it white, cream or some other color? The room will be having blue accents, so maybe a pale cottage blue?

Or some other color?
Here's the collage I posted a few months ago and this really comes close to the armoire that I had in mind. Once I refinish it, I think it's going to look perfect in the room.
Collage for my guest room make over.
I need to be on the lookout now for new hardware to put on it also. Yay! A project to work on again!

Ohhh, I wouldn't remove that awesome metal grating... if anything spray it silver and redo in the beautiful blue you posted. That would be phenomenal!!!
Great score!
This is gorgeous!!!
I agree with the other lady about painting the metal grating silver & painting it blue!!!
Can't wait to see what you do with this! So many possibilities!!!
Go blue!
Not a fan of the metal like the other commenters though; I'd say put in glass (maybe bubble glass?) or shirred fabric on tension rods for a more feminine look.
That is gorgeous! It reminds me a lot of my Grandmother's armoire. :) Good memories. Anyways, I vote for blue!

I think I'm feeling sold on the blue, too. Now to figure out what shade of blue to get. I'll probably go to the store tomorrow to pick out paint swatches. Any recs on blue colors are welcomed.
Glad you finally found one that you like! It's gorgeous! Maybe you can keep the metal grating and mimic the pattern other places, like in the stencil or in fabric.
Awesome! So glad you found one. Yup, blue and live w/the metal grating for awhile. You can always change it out later.
Make sure your blue has a gray undertone and doesn't look too baby boy pastel. Or you could always go with a greenish blue like sea glass.
Blue!
Love it! I say paint it blue. Have fun :)
Wow what a great find. To be honest I think it looks great just as it is. I like the metal doors but then it depends what it looks like when it's filled, you might have a better perspective then. I'm a huge fan of wallpaper the back of cupboards for a pop of colour.
I would leave the metal grating also. If you have high humidity, then the grating is a good thing. Silver yes. Painting the wood a pale blue or white would work. What a great find!!! I love it. I see it white and filled with pale blue stacks of sheets and towels. Yum!
Blue for sure..Love the metal..It will be fab no matter what you do with it,that I'm sure..xx
Love that you held out for the perfect armoire. I would've been too impatient and picked one of the others you've shown us in the past. this was worth the wait!! What are you going to put in it? What about painting the INSIDE blue...Then if you decide you want to move it elsewhere in the house later on you're not as committed. I like to keep big things neutral so I can swap around...just an idea.
That is so pretty!!! What a great find! I love the idea of making it blue. Id leave the wire. Spray it white or silver.
Yes, blue with silver wire. I love the wire.
Yes, blue with silver wire. I love the wire.
I would replace the metal with glass (the metal looks too busy!) and paint it white. Blue would probably be the better choice, but since I'm obsessed with white, I would paint it white. ;)
I like the metal grating, but I think glass would also look nice. I'm curious to know what you're going to put in the armoire? I think a really pale gray-blue might be nice? I'm sure you'll think of something fabulous. You always do! :)
After looking at your guest room pictures, I think that the armoire is perfect just as it is. How about hanging blue fabric behind the metal grating?
After checking out the photos of your guest room, I think the armoire is perfect just as it is. How about shirring blue fabric behind the metal grid?
blue! and I would leave the grating as well, It gives it character.
I wouldn't want to remove the mesh either. Maybe you could put fabric behind it in a similar pattern to the stencil you had? I love Farrow & Ball Pigeon or Parma grey - very classy blue/grey colours.
