I've been on vacation to California and had a wonderful time. I've always wanted to visit CA since I was a little girl and it was really exciting to get to see! I will start with my favorite part of the trip, which was a ferry ride over to Catalina Island.
This is the ferry we rode over on.
I went with a couple of friends.
I was really surprised to see how it looked there.
It actually reminded me of Greece.
Isn't this beautiful?
I've never been to Greece, but from what I have seen of it in the movies, this is what it reminded me of.
This place was absolutely amazing! My friends I went to the island with had to go back early, but I stayed an extra day there by myself and explored more of the island.
For those that have been following my blog or who know me, have heard me talk about how I want to get back close to God again. I use to have a strong relationship with the Lord, but fell away about 8 or 9 years ago.
While I was at the island, I began praying again and had an amazing prayer time with the Lord.
He revealed to me how much He still loves me and that He's still here for me. God came through for me and I pray that I never stray from Him again. All He longs for is a relationship with us. :)
There's so much to do on the island, but not enough time to do it all in. I would need to stay there at least a month to accomplish half of what they have to offer!
I took hundreds of pictures, so I will try to post more throughout the week of Los Angeles, Venus Beach, Hollywood, Long Beach, etc.
I really needed this vacation, but it does feel good to be back home again. :)

Hi there - i found you through Calypso in the Country's blog. Love your home. I have family in Wytheville VA, so we actually have been thru Mt Airy more than a few times :) It's such a sweet town.
Jolie,
good for you, I think you look wonderful in these picture.
It DOES remind me of Greece! Glad you had a great time.
I've always wanted to go to California, it sounds like you've had a wonderful time. Evan more wonderful is hearing about your renewed relationship with the Lord!
Happy you had the time away and even happier to hear how God is working in your life.
Your pictures are amazing! How fun for you to get so far away for a summer vaca! I seem to barely be able to make it outside VA this summer!
Thanks for sharing about your journey! I, for one, would love to hear more about it. It's always an encouragement to hear stories of how God is working! I don't know if you like to read, but if so, I would suggest a book titled He Loves Me by Wayne Jacobsen. Wayne's book and free podcasts have been so so helpful to me in learning how to live in God's love(rather than performance based religion:)! Bless you!
Gorgeous! It also reminds me of the Almalfi coast in Italy! I have always wanted to go to Catalina island - definitely on the list for the next time we are in California! It really looks like paradise!

the photo's are lovely Jolie!!!! :)
So glad to hear that you drew closer to God again!I find it so encouraging to hear this. I have been there myself, several times.
He is always there, and LOVES us still, it is always us that does the moving away. He is waiting with open arms to draw us closer, when we make the choice to reconnect with Him!
Praise the Lord for His grace and patience!!!
Catalina is so beautiful and it doesn't surprise me that you renewed your relationship with God there. They actually have a Christian retreat center on the island, called Campus by the Sea. I have so many friends who have grown closer to the Lord on that island! It is truly a special place.
Carolyn,
I didn't realize they had the retreat center there, how interesting! Maybe I can attend it someday! Yes, it truly is a special place, it definitely has a place in my heart. I automatically think of God and his marvelous love when I think of Catalina Island. :)
